Figuring Freight

REAL PEOPLE - NOT "BUY IT" BUTTONS, CALL 888-826-0939

Products that ship UPS ground, to the contiguous 48 states, can be figured using the chart below. These rates include the total cost of insurance (we never ship uninsured), packaging and UPS shipping charges. See the Exceptions section below the chart for other shipping scenarios.

DROP SHIP ITEMS: Some products are drop shipped from the factory, some factories charge for this service (we will tell you at the time of your order) so if you order contains other items as well as drop ship items, there will be additional shipping charges charged later on your Credit Card.

EXPEDITED SHIPPING:  Because of the size of the territory that our UPS driver covers, they get back after the Next Day Air truck has left, therefore, we can only ship UPS Blue Label (Two Day) or UPS Orange Label (Three Day).

Shipping, Handling and Insurance Rates using UPS Ground*

Most items, 70 pounds or less, can ship by UPS. Please note... UPS cannot ship to a PO Box.

Use this chart for anywhere in the 48 contiguous states.

Up to $25.00                $10.95

$25.01 to $50.00         $12.95

$50.01 to $100.00         $15.95

$100.01 to 150.00         $20.95

$150.01 to $200.00       $25.95

$201.00 to $250.00       $30.95

OVER $250.01 We add 8% of total order or actual UPS charges whichever is less.

PLEASE NOTE: This rate chart assumes that the order is shipping in ONE  box, which is not always possible or practical. For example we would never pack a solar module and a battery together, or anything heavy with something breakable. If you have this circumstance figure the rates as two orders and take the cost of each item separately to get the proper shipping rate.

*If you are shipping UPS ground to Hawaii or Alaska shipping costs will be higher than shipping to the 48 contiguous states.

We do not ship FedEx.

Some exceptions to using this chart are as follows:

Truck Freight Shipments

Truck freight charges are difficult to quote in advance because of fuel surcharges, which change daily. We will be happy to estimate truck freight for you but, actual charges will be as of the date of shipment.

Other factors that determine Truck freight fees are listed below:

Pickup from Truck Terminal:

The absolute Best choice, and it's a cost effective alternative to shipping to a residential or commercial business address If you request to ship to a truck terminal we can make arrangements with our shipping carriers for you to pickup the shipment from the terminal.  Truck terminals will almost always help you to load the product on your pickup truck.

The Solar Biz will determine the closest truck terminal to your location prior to processing the order. Please note you must bring proper identification to the terminal.

Commercial / Business Address:

Most of our trucking carriers offer Curb Side Delivery to your business/commercial location. Curbed Side Delivery means it is the responsibility of the customer who is receiving the shipment to have the means to unload the product by fork lift or loading dock.

If lift gate service is required additional fees will be added depending on the freight carrier. The Solar Biz is not responsible if the product cannot be unloaded off the truck. Truck drivers are not required to help you unload the product off the truck.

A cautionary note…

If you operate your business out of residential address you will be charged for the additional costs of delivering to a residential address.

The truck driver will determine if you are a commercial address or residential address at the time of delivery. Typically to be deemed commercial you must have a commercial sign, the driver must be able enter without knocking, you must have a forklift or a loading dock and a forty foot semi must easily get to your place. Generally a semi will not leave the pavement or go down a dirt driveway.

Residential address:

Usually the worst choice, because it's like following Alice down the rabbit hole. If you're real lucky the hookah smoking caterpillar doesn't get hold of your paperwork and loose it, and, the Queen of Spades doesn't chop off your head.

Trucking companies will make all sorts of promises to deliver at an agreed upon time and day. Don't you believe it. This is not white glove service or UPS.

The typical scenario goes like this:

You call the trucking company and speak to a very nice woman, she assures you they'll be there Wednesday around noon, so you take off work, and you get your friend to also take off work and come by to help you unload. No truck shows up, again you call, the nice lady is now gone, but, they say he'll surely be there before five. So you wait all day and it's a no show. Your friend says he can't take off any more from work.

So you go back to work the next day and ask your neighbor to watch for the truck and call you when it comes. Still it's a no show. On Friday morning you're on your way to work and, your wife is home alone, at 7:45 AM the truck shows up, and the driver refuses to help her unload, and she can't.

So the truck goes back to the freight terminal and they charge you for a missed delivery. In the end you wind up paying for the residential delivery you didn't get, and you rent a truck and go to the freight terminal and pick it up yourself.

(Larger Items Batteries, Generators etc.)

Trucking carriers impose additional shipping costs to a residential address. The additional fee is due to shipping carriers not being able to use 18 wheelers down residential streets and their need to switch to smaller trucks. You are responsible for additional shipping costs to a residential address.

Additional costs for residential delivery:

It is solely your responsibility to determine in advance if your address can be serviced by a truck. Some residential addresses cannot receive truck deliveries under any circumstances. If the truck cannot get to your residential address you will be charged for the delivery regardless.

Larger items that are heavy… over 70 lb.

Residential customers should request lift gate service. If you do not request lift gate service The Solar Biz is not responsible if the product cannot be unloaded from the truck.

Please note…

Truck drivers are not required to help you unload the product off the truck .If the customer cannot unload the product it will be brought back to the truck terminal. The customer will be financially responsible for both the 1st delivery attempt and making a 2nd delivery attempt and will be charged accordingly
